Posts: 78 May 10 12 6:36 PM	I just finished Genital Grinder this morning, I was really impressed with it. This was my first venture into the extreme horror as far as books go, and I don't know why it took me so long. I've been a big fan of horror movies of all kinds for years, and been into extreme metal forever (though I'm more into Carcass's Necroticism than Reek of Putrefaction.) I've had my eye on a couple books here recently than I plan on getting, Deadite books, go figure. But anyway, yeah there was a lot of crazy shit in this book, the adventures of Von and Greg get pretty twisted. What really got me about this book isn't so much how extreme and gross out some of it was, but how well written it was. I sat at work Saturday and just plowed through Sharing Needles, Genital Grinder: A Snuff Film in 5 Acts, Development, and Emissary. I just didn't want to put this book down. So you've got my money on the sequel whenever your ready to put it out. Just keep us posted. Website Goodreads Google +

There are some great things to be found in the extreme horror genre that I think you will enjoy, so definitely look into some of the Edward Lee books on Deadite. As noted elsewhere, his work was a big influence on those Von and Greg stories, and in addition to writing such depraved stuff, he's always been solid with characterization. I hope to have new stories soon which will be different from GG, but still satisfyingly morbid. Thanks again for giving GG a try, and I hope you'll like what comes next even more! --R.H.

Posts: 65 May 14 12 8:51 PM	Sinister, I just got to listen to the book review. That was really cool! Still kind of surreal for someone to talk about something I wrote for 20+ minutes, haha. Thanks a lot for the effort that went into that! A couple of things -- 1 - "Bottom Feeder" was removed from the collection on the eve of publication and does not appear in the final version. The connection to the other stories was slight, but it was just that the girl in the bar who slaps the narrator ends up being the hit and run victim in "Damaged Goods." I did not think it was a strong enough story to lead, particularly after Lee's intro, so I pulled it. 2 - You weren't sure about the connection of "Emissary." There are a few little things. Greg (of Von and Greg) is the customer who rents Taste of Death and the perennial fan favorite "GA." The story mentions Mr. Drill Bit, also alluded to in "Genital Grinder: A Snuff Film in Five Acts" and Geisha Hammond, the reporter from GG and "Sharing Needles." And the person who gave Von and Greg the caper idea in "GG 2" turns out to be the shotgun victim, which isn't revealed until "GG 2" in sort of an offhand manner. I think it mentions the street corner where it happened (37th and Garren?). I just think those details make it a little more interesting. The worst review I've seen really seemed to take issue with the threads between stories -- not sure why it was such an inconvenience for them even if it was as "blatant" as they claimed -- but it's something to reward people for paying attention to detail. Anyway, thanks again for doing it! Maybe you'll want to do another one whenever I have something else out there. There is another Von and Greg idea, but I don't know when I may get to that one. Never considered them on the road until you guys said that, haha. Who knows...lotta hitchhikers out there who still haven't learned. R.

Posts: 21 May 15 12 1:27 PM	Thanks for listening and detailing the story threads we missed. The fact that some of those details are very minute will definitely add to the re-readability of the book. I noted the obvious connections while reading but some skittered my attention. I've seen we are not the only big Von and Greg fans out there I think it would be a crime if you didn't dip back into that well in some way shape or form. Either way this episode of the podcast has gotten bumped up our numbers. The number of listeners in less then a day is about the same as the first two took to get over weeks! So thanks everyone from the boards whose listened in so far and I hope the added bit of attention gets a few more sales for a book that deserves to be read.

I loved the revised edition of Genital Grinder, having originally read the version in Excitable Boys, I absolutely loved the expanded edition.. Please say you'll do more extreme fiction soon! As soon as I finish I'll make sure top post my review here as well as the usual spots! Major props to Deadite for putting this "diamond in the puke" out there for us lunatics....

May be resurrected one day. It was one of my favorites that hit a wall. I RAPE YOUR GUTS -- I don't think there was every a plot, just a catchy title. One day maybe. PORTRAIT -- Abandoned. I was supposed to finish it and never quite made it. I just think we got to where neither of us had enough time to work on it anymore and salvage it. Untitled -- Written and trashed. Nothing special. The Last Road to Hell -- Written but unsatisfying. Could be revived someday. Play Dead -- Written and forgotten. The Greatest Show - Written. Pretty happy with it but haven't found the right place for it. It's just flash fiction. Prime Evil -- This was "First Indications" from GG.

As soon as I read the title "I Rape Your Guts" I got flash backs of Entrails of a Beautiful Woman and Daisuke Yamanouchi films and was hoping that one was ready for the reading masses. Good luck hope there's another collection soon, I'm going to end up busting this copy rereading it.

I rate and review all the titles I've read from there on Goodreads.com and B&N.com and we were only too happy to center our first few podcasts around those books as well. We are going to be switching gears for the next few episodes, next up A. Lee Martinez and then some other small press stuff. We are however both horror fans at the core so we will absolutely have more horror coming down the pipe and you can count on a lot of that being titles from Deadite. Of course there is always the horror of the terrible beers we taste so at least there is that. to You can stay up to date on our latest episodes if your on Facebook. I just know it was intended to be a very harsh revenge story, but I didn't get very far with planning it. A title like deserves a story to go with it, though, obviously. I'll go back to the drawing board on it someday. I saw Entrails of Beautiful Woman, but I'm wondering if I ever saw Guts of the Virgin. I may have missed that one. Some of those Japanese movies from the pink cinema genre had the best titles.

Posts: 21 May 27 12 7:48 AM	Hey Ryan just wanted to let you know I took your advice and cracked open Edward Lee's HAUNTER OF THE THRESHOLD. Only about halfway through at this point but it is excellent. Even wound up reading an old Lovecraft story that Lee suggested reading first as this book is sort of a part two of that story. So thanks for pointing me in his direction. This one is pretty graphic but in like a whole different way from GENITAL GRINDER. Great book recommendations are gold so thanks once again.
